During their May 24th City Council meeting, the Peachtree Corners City Council recognized six officers from the Gwinnett County Police Department for their service to the community.  This recognition came as the result of the events of an apprehension that took place on March 18, 2022.

On March 18, two suspects that had committed multiple armed robberies around Gwinnett County and neighboring jurisdictions were apprehended by these West Precinct officers. The officers responded to a FLOCK camera notification and apprehended the two men in a business park after a brief foot chase.

Sgt. Bing first saw the suspect vehicle and was joined by MPO Frantz Augustin. They approached the vehicle giving verbal commands. The suspects rammed another patrol vehicle head-on driven by Officer Giraldo, who got out of the vehicle, drew his weapon, and gave commands. Determined to get away, the suspects tried driving over a curb and their vehicle got lodged in some bushes. The passenger exited the vehicle and was taken into custody by Officer Worth and Sgt. Bing.

The driver jumped out and began to run. Officer Augustin, MPO Anderson, and MPO Merkley pursued. The three officers were able to apprehend the driver.

The two suspects were each charged with 9 counts of Armed Robbery, while one of the suspects was charged with an additional 9 counts of Aggravated Assault.

Without the level of effort and professionalism shown by all involved, these individuals would have continued their victimization of Gwinnett County businesses and citizens.
